Shirley Smith's Madge Gill Inspired Tea Towel

Designed to accompany the exhibition Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur, this tea towel reproduces the artwork Untitled, from a selection of drawings by Shirley Smith, 2022–24. The original ink and crayon drawing was created by Sir Grayson Perry’s fictional artist alter-ego for the show, Shirley Smith. The artwork is part of a series of drawings that present Shirley’s vision of herself in her imagined past as heir to the Wallace Collection. As such, the drawing, and tea towel, includes a fantasy representation of the Wallace Collection in the background.
