'The Great Beauty' Portrait Tea Towel

Designed to accompany the exhibition Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur, this tea towel box is inspired by the artwork The Great Beauty, 2024. The original piece is a cabinet heavily decorated with ceramic female portraiture, created in celebration of friendship and in response to the abundant furniture and miniatures housed in the Wallace Collection. The monochrome centre of this tea towel concentrates on one of the beautifully detailed portraits from the cabinet, whilst the surround mimics the shape of the ceramic panels in a pink hue inspired by the domestic space created by Sir Grayson Perry’s fictional artist alter-ego for the show, Shirley Smith.
