'The Great Beauty' Portrait Fan

Designed to accompany the exhibition Grayson Perry: Delusions of Grandeur, this beautifully handmade fan is inspired by the artwork The Great Beauty, 2024. The original piece is a cabinet heavily decorated with ceramic female portraiture, created in celebration of friendship and in response to the abundant furniture and miniatures housed in the Wallace Collection. The monochrome design focuses on the alluring eyes of one of the beautifully detailed portraits, alluding playfully to the flirtatious use of eighteenth century fans in courtship and at social gatherings.
