Gold Cup of Eternal Stablity Greetings Card

This extravagant wine cup comes as a pair that has been made from gold, kingfisher feathers, pearls and gemstones. It's believed that they may have been made for The Qianlong Emperor (1711-1799) who used the Gold Cup of Eternal Stability to drink tusu wine (a herbal drink) to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Sir Richard Wallace acquired these two objects at auction in 1872 and are now on display as part of a new exhibition, Sir Richard Wallace: The Collector, on the lower ground floor of the museum.
