18th Century Colour Palettes
A primary source of over 175 pigment names defined by four 18th century authors - two artists' colourmen and two chemists, in England and in France. All their entries are included, usually in full, and the descriptions are of the pigments they found "in the shops," sometimes based on scholarly publications of the time. This handbook of pigments is a basic resource on the 18th century arts of fine painting - in oil, fresco, minature, gouache, watercolour and pastel.
